Be Still

As I sat at a nearby lake on the first day of almost 70 degree weather, I was drawn into the quiet and stillness. The slowly melting lake had various spots of snow and ice and some spots of freely flowing water. The clouds were bright blue and I could feel the heat of the sun along with a gently breeze.
I had taken this time, to quiet my mind and body to write, read and pray. As of late it's been difficult for me to find a balance and take the time I need to sit still and really listen to what God is saying.
As I sat there struggling for answers to the many questions I had written and asked God to help me with, my attention was diverted to 2 hawks flying high above the lake. I noticed how seamlessly they glided in the air above and how they just keep circling around and around. I wondered, what's their plan? What are they looking for? What was their purpose? They were beautiful to watch and they took a break every once in a while either resting on a branch or a piece of floating ice. But still, what was their ultimate goal?
I realized that those hawks were exactly how I was feeling; aimlessly running around in circles questioning myself - What is my purpose? What am I looking for? What are the answers to my questions? Why aren't you answering me God?
As I thought about this analogy, I realized that the hawks circle around most likely looking for food. They are looking for just the right moment to dive bomb the water and catch their prey. They are persistent and they are patient. They also have a natural instinct to just KNOW the perfect time and they have a certain amount of faith that the water below is going to eventually provide what they want and need.
God has given us a similar purpose and instinct and we can trust it, once we have invited Him to have control over our life, because He knows what we need and when we need it! If we step back, have faith and are persistent in our waiting and asking everything will eventually become clear and then, we will KNOW! He will show us, He will guide us, He will enable us and He will give us the answers we are seeking. It will come in His time and His way. We just need to keep circling, keep looking up and keep being faithful.
Praying you remain faithful, Praising Him for the answers He will provide and Pondering His goodness!
