Launch Day Reflection

Between celebrating the launch of Refined and the wonderful chaos of summertime at camp, I had the opportunity to steal away for a few quiet moments while waiting on a camper.
As I sat in the sunshine, taking in the stillness, I found myself reflecting on everything God had done to bring me to this day. Then, a butterfly began fluttering all around me. It wasn't easy to capture a picture because it kept dancing from plant to plant, but in that moment, it wasn't really about getting the photo.
If you know me well, you know that butterflies have always held a special place in our family's heart. They were my sister's favorite. Since she passed away, butterflies have often appeared during some of life's most meaningful moments and each time they remind me of her.
Today felt like one of those moments.
Sitting there, I was reminded of how brief life really is in the grand scheme of eternity. It was a gentle reminder that, in the middle of all the busyness of life, launching a book, serving campers and staff and keeping up with everything that comes with ministry, it's important to pause and simply be present.
The celebration can wait. The work will still be there. But those quiet moments with God are priceless.
Sometimes He speaks the loudest when we finally become still enough to listen. He gently reminds us of His faithfulness, His presence and the people who have helped shape our journey.
Today, as I watched that butterfly, my heart was filled with gratitude. I couldn't help but smile as I thought of my sister and how excited she would have been to celebrate this day with me.
I'm grateful for today, grateful for God's faithfulness every step of the way, and grateful for all of you who have walked this journey with me.
I'm looking forward to all that He has ahead.
